Wedding Dress Shopping
So if you haven’t hear from my yet, I got my wedding dress several weeks ago!! Myself, another bride 4 friends from PEI and another friend from China got up early Saturday morning to search for our wedding dresses. We went to a place called Guangzhou (It’s about 2 hours away from Shenzhen), to visit a famous wedding dress street. We saw over 20 thousands dresses without a doubt and were in and out of countless stores. 90% of the dresses were western style with intense beading, but a few weren’t bad. I had passed out photocopies of what I wanted for my gown to friends and we divided and concord as much space as possible in one full day. We did quite well, but were pooped by noon. After we had lunch and had gathered up some more energy to keep ourselves going, we went into a large building with many small stores in it. On the basement floor I walked by this dress (without noticing it) to do a quick sweep of what they had in stock and on the way out said I really liked it and that maybe I should try it on. I had already tried on 3 dresses that day and had one potential waiting for me back at another store that I really like. It look identical to what I had chosen in my pictures. This dress was not something I had been looking for, and wasn’t exactly on my photocopy of dresses to pick up. I tried it on just the same, like it a lot, got a great reaction from my friends and then walked in front of the mirror and started crying. I knew it was the one as soon as I saw myself and pictured me walking down the aisle. The workers freaked out. They didn’t understand and thought they had hurt me or stepped on my toe, hahahaha, my Chinese friend had to explain them that I was just really really happy. They’re not used to brides getting so excited over a dress.
The cost was 4000rmb at first, but after explaining that I wanted several things adjusted and absolutely none of the beading that was on it (and it was from head to toe!! Tacky plastic flower beading.) The agreed to let me have it from 2000rmb. They took my measurements and told me it would be made in the next month and shipped to the school. :) Then we all screamed and did a little dance in the hallway.
